It is not widely known that the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, which protects the first £50,000 of a depositor’s assets in the event of the failure of a UK bank, is limited in its application. With regard to companies, it protects only the deposits of small companies, which are those which meet two of three criteria: • they have fewer than 50 employees; The £50,000 limit is also available for unincorporated organisations, partnerships and sole traders, but in the latter case the limit would apply in total to all (i.e. business and personal) accounts held by the customer with the same lender. Deposit takers in Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man are not covered by the scheme. |

Legal Industry Survey off to a Flying Start In less than one week we have received nearly 200 completed survey questionnaires duly returned – thank you. The more responses we receive will provide a more meaningful picture to the way Law Firms are embracing change and dealing with the current challenges. Managing, Leading & Succeeding in 2009 New Programme for Law Firms We know that in the current environment many of you are looking for cost effective ways to develop your leadership and management skills to enable you to lead your Law Firm through these challenging times.
